first ride out with the Karoo today!
Recommended by this forum I loaded Komoot app.
And it works so smooth! Karoo for the riding data and Komoot for tbt navigation.
Very happy with that setup, just 1 question regarding the tbt.
When you create a route and drop pins then the tbt will always take the pin as the next 'turn'.
Even if that pin is on a straight route it will take it as next.
It is not a big deal but maybe someone here knows if in settings you can change this so the tbt will only take the 'real' turns and not all pins dropped on the route.

Thx in advance

If your pin is placed just after the corner you don't have this problem.

I managed to install Google Maps with the APK pure application which I installed before. It works but it cannot have access to my GPS. It requests the right to do so, but the 'allow' button list not cliquable. Thé 'deny' button works fine. What do I do wrong please?

Edit: I found how to do it.. in the settings menu go to apps and then in the settings menu on top of the screen and then the app permissions menu...
gl00 wrote: Thu Jul 05, 2018 12:58 pm Google maps - easiest solution I know for looking up and navigate to places for everyday riding - cannot sign in to account but functional
OSMand - Karoo maps are OK, but this might be useful some day (has entire country loaded for offline use).
Whatsapp - my riding groups use this to communicate - really annoying that it can only be used on one device at a time and I have to log off/log on each time...
Opera Mini - gives me access to Hammerhead Dashboard and email (for those last minute gpx file transfers), Strava (a bit buggy though, might try full featured Opera)...
Opera - full version offers much better compatibility. Strava now fully functional
Dropbox - alternative way to get GPX files
File Manager - for managing these files, cleanup...
APK Pure - App repository in case I need to install other apps.
Nova Launcher
Switchr
Napster - a backup source of entertainment for the train, returning from a long bike trip, and my phone's batteries are depleted.

That's a brilliant app actually! At first I didn't get the point of it but now that I retried it it has made my life so much easier! Going back and forth between OSMand and the Ride app is really quick that way, plus I put an entry for the KISS launcher in there so I can keep the HH launcher as the default and launch all the rarely needed stuff from there.

One thing I have that makes the cellular functionality a bit more useful is QKSMS. Needed to reload credits on the prepaid SIM.

Can you all help here?

Earlier today I happened upon just this app permissions menu -- from which I could browse the list of permissions category, see how many apps enjoyed each ("2 of 5", etc.), and tap in to toggle for individual apps.

However, I can not find this screen any more!

I go to Karoo's Settings, go to the App menu, but I can not find anything like "the settings menu on top of the screen" to get this permissions category listing again.

Thanks for any help, everyone!

I see what you mean.

Can you not just access the same thing by tapping on the app in the list of Apps and then Permissions? Or does that not give you what you need?

I can.

Where did the other screen go, though, I wonder?

Is there anybody out there who's sideloaded Locus Map Pro? I thought I'd give it a try as it claims to allow connection of Ant+ and Bluetooth devices. The map is really good looking, and it's quite flexible for customizing data fields (although, as is often the case, I find the documentation scattered and a bit confusing).

Unfortunately, when I've attempted to connect Ant+ devices (again, my purpose for loading Locus Map Pro), the app initially recognizes them and displays data onscreen (e.g., heart rate, etc.), but then gets caught-up in an infinite "searching for devices" loop. You can only break the loop by rebooting, and then the loop resumes shortly after attempting to start recording a ride, or launching the "Ant+ Manager." During these times, you can't get back to the map using any gesture or key stroke that I know of. If you're able to reboot, then uncheck all of the previously established device connections in ANT+ Manager before it resumes the search loop (and you've got to be REAL quick!), it allows you to record a track (with no ANT+ devices, of course). At this point, if you get curious again and try relaunching the ANT+ Manager, it will once again start an unstopable search for devices -- strangely enough, the same ones that were first defined but are no longer checked and for whom there's no screen evidence of their existence (listed nowhere, but clearly, not forgotten). Only solution: rebooting.

One of my heart rate straps is both ANT+ and Bluetooth compatible. In an effort to get around the ANT+ connection problems, I tried using the Bluetooth Manager to connect to it, and it resulted in the very same sequence of events as for ANT+ devices (infinite device search loop).

So, has anybody had any success in connecting ANT+ and/or Bluetooth devices to a sideloaded version of Locus Map Pro? If so, do you have any suggestions for me? I've posed this question to the developer and his advice to essentially "turn off the search for devices upon starting" switch in Settings wasn't helpful as I've never had this setting "on." I'm going to send him a message similar to this one in the hope of getting to a solution, but, in the meantime, anybody have any thoughts?

Thanks!

I'm having the exact same problems with Locus Map Pro.

BTW: Had to install the Amazon App Store for Android, then buy Amazon Coins and use those to buy Locus Map Pro.

I prepared a long answer to your comment and hit the wrong key, causing the system to delete the whole thing. Let me just pass along what Locus' "Menion" told me to try, which didn't sound at all related to the issue, but worked:

"You may give a try and tap on "tools" button in the panel with the sensor and choose "Connection type > Silent". Maybe it will solve this problem because Locus Map then should correctly pick available sensor. If this won't work, I'll try it later directly with device & sensors."

It took a while to get all the settings as I prefer them, but this software is way ahead of Hammerhead's on a number of levels, at least for my needs. I can't see going back on the Hammerhead merry-go-round... I hope Menion's advice helps you, too!

I just installed AirDroid for easy file transfer between Karoo and any computer with a web browser. I had used it on my smartphones for quite a while, but just got the idea now to drop it into the Karoo. Works great.

The STRAVA APK works? I think it would be a very powerful app, option to explore segments / live segments, and use strava beacon...

Seems Switchr is popular, is that because its the only app of it's type that works on the karoo, or because it became popular as it was the first one tried?

I can't even find the app(only the pro key for it: "Switchr Pro Key"):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deve ... ammad+Adib

Is that the correct author and do you need the key?

I'm trying AZ Screen Recorder (https://apkpure.com/az-screen-recorder- ... order.free), fiddly to setup but seems to now be working.

I started by only having an option to stop recording via a notification since I have seen notifications (I thought) on this device, but there wasn't any. Is there some restrictions on which apps can use notifications?

Would be curious to know which of your apps as you seem to have ... them all ... have worked well or that you enjoy are.

Trying not to get lost into the deep dive that this can be.

Is there anybody who has Explorer for Veloviewer working on the Karoo? I can install it, but it is not possible to fill in Strava account en password, as the screenkeyboard covers the bars where it should be filled in. And as far as I know a bluetooth connection with a keyboard is not possible.

Hi,
Can someone tell me how they installed Komoot?
I downloaded the apk
I tried using apkpure and the amazon app store, but it doesn't run, but I see many people here have it up and running.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

Can't tell what "doesn't run" means without information. What happens when you click on the Kamoot icon?

Using APKPure I successfully installed TrainerRoad. However, I am also having issues installing Komoot via APKPure. I keep getting and "Install Failed" notification.

Wondering if the issue was Komoot or APKPure I tried installing another app, Dark Sky. Install was successful and Dark Sky does run (mostly). Upon opening Dark Sky I get a notification that it won't work without Google Play installed, which I dismiss. Dark Sky doesn't seem to be accessing Hammerhead's GPS, as it can't get my "current location," but when I plug in a location it provides accurate weather for that location.

Any suggestions for how to delete a sideloaded app?

EDIT: I just found the "Uninstall" feature in APKPure to delete installed apps.
