Introducing Auto-Lap! Now you can set Karoo to mark laps at a specific time or distance interval, a perfect way to help you pace yourself and stay motivated throughout your ride. You can find it under the Device Settings.



UPDATED DELETE FUNCTION

We’ve done some cleanup on how you delete items on Karoo. We’ve replaced the slide-to-confirm mechanism with a confirmation pop-up when deleting a page of a profile, the Xert app from the App Store, or swiping to delete a ride from the Rides list or profile form the Profiles List.



[KAROO 2 ONLY] IMPROVED BATTERY PERCENTAGE DISPLAY

We’ve added the Karoo’s current Battery Percentage to the out-of-ride status bar. This should make it faster and easier to know you’re ready to ride whenever you power on Karoo.



Bug Fixes:

- When connecting to wifi during Initial Setup, the keyboard will now automatically show when you choose a network. You’re also now able to see your password as you enter it if you need to.

[KAROO 2 ONLY] INTRODUCING CONTROL CENTER

We’ve made it simpler and easier than ever to take control of your Karoo 2.

- Swipe down from the top of the screen (or squeeze the upper hardware buttons together) to access the toggles and features you need most, from system and display settings to ride-specific actions (when in ride) such as routing back to where you started.
- Fully operable with either the touchscreen or the hardware buttons, you can use Control Center year-round.
- Take a quick tour of how to use Control Center when you update to this software version, or find it later under “Learn More” at the bottom of the Settings list on Karoo 2.



INTRODUCING ROUTES ARCHIVE

Keep your routes list organized by archiving any routes you don’t ride frequently. Archive or un-archive your routes on the Dashboard. Archived routes are still available on Karoo and can still be ridden.



INTRODUCING CLIMB PREVIEW

From the in-ride Climb List, tap on any climb to expand it and see the full climb’s profile, grade coloring, and the elevation difference between the start and end of the climb. Tap again or open the preview of another climb to close the preview.



UPDATED CLIMBER FEATURE

When Karoo detects climbs on your route, reroute, or route to pin, those climbs will now be shown on the map.

- Upcoming climbs are represented by a lighter shade of blue than the completed climbs.
- The start and end of the current or next climb are indicated by start and end flags.



Bug Fixes:

- We fixed a bug that prevented Karoo from recognizing when certain power meters (notably those made by Rotor) were coating. This would prevent Karoo from properly recording 0 power during coasting.
- We’ve fixed a bug that caused the profile editor to kick you to the final page of a profile whenever you edited a profile page’s layout or a data field.
- We’ve fixed a bug that prevented the lap summary preview from being shown automatically in Battery Save Mode when auto-lap marked a new lap while the screen was off (the screen would turn on, but the preview wouldn’t pop up).
- We’ve fixed two bugs that could cause failure when Karoos running software version 1.248.1114 or newer tried to upload a ride that was recorded on any previous software version.
- We’ve fixed a bug that caused the Start Ride button not to work the first time you press it after signing into a Hammerhead Account or signing out of one on Karoo.
- [KAROO 2 ONLY] We’ve improved the reliability of the parts of Karoo 2 responsible for ANT sensors and Phone Notifications. This will lead to more reliable connection to phones for notifications and sensor stability. We also fixed a bug that kept some Karoo 2s from updating their Radio Firmware. When these users take this new update, they’ll also receive the benefit of our past fixes for ANT sensor and Phone Notification reliability.

[KAROO 2 ONLY] Introducing Device Controls

We’ve added a new page to the Control Center for managing and monitoring all of your wireless devices connected to Karoo 2. From here, you can zero offset your power meter, refresh connection to any disconnected devices, and open Sensors for further management. This page is only available while riding.

We’ve also added Smart Light control to Control Center. Available while riding, each connected Smart Light gets its own page in Control Center for you to change the light mode. You can tap directly on the name of the desired light mode, swipe the slider to the proper position, or use the hardware buttons to select the mode you need.

Radar taillights have the ability to Mute or Unmute radar audio alerts from their Light Control page. Standalone radar devices get their own page to mute/unmute.

We’ve also added Bluetooth Audio Volume Control to Control Center. Available while riding with a Bluetooth Audio device connected, you can control the output volume of your bluetooth audio alerts.



[KAROO 2 ONLY] Updated Radar Mute

We’ve changed the behavior of Radar Mute to only mute radar audio alerts. Now, the car lane will always be visible in-ride when a radar is connected and a car is detected approaching from behind.

- For Karoo 2, we’ve restricted this ability to toggle Radar Mute/Unmute to Control Center to prevent it from happening accidentally while riding.



[KAROO 2 ONLY] Updated Control Center

We’ve added a button to Control Center to Change Profiles mid-ride. This is available from the System Controls page, and will take you to the Home Screen without ending your ride so you can select a different profile.



[KAROO 2 ONLY] Improved Brightness Adjustment

We’ve improved the Control Center brightness slider to allow 20% increments when controlled with Hardware Buttons.

- We’ve also improved the behavior of the slider so that you can swipe between Control Center pages more easily.



[KAROO 2 ONLY] Automatic Power Off

We’ve reduced the time it takes for Karoo 2 to power off on its own when left unplugged and not recording a ride. Now, after 10 minutes of inactivity, Karoo 2 will display a 15-second countdown before shutting down on its own. This should help preserve battery between rides in case you forget to power off the Karoo 2 after a ride.



[KAROO 2 ONLY] Updated Power Menu Design

We’ve updated the design of the power menu on Karoo 2.



Introducing Workout File Import

Now you can follow your favorite workouts on Karoo, even if you’re not a TrainingPeaks user. Simply export your workout as a FIT file or ZWO file, and then import it on Dashboard. Workouts on Dashboard will then be synced to Karoo.



Introducing Ride Restore

Whether you’re on a multi-day adventure or just trying to save some battery during a long rest stop, you can now power off your Karoo mid-ride and continue that ride when you turn Karoo back on.

- Choosing to continue the ride will reopen the same profile you were using, add the same route and/or workout you were following, and even restore the list of climbs you’ve completed so far.
- For Karoo 2 users, phone notifications will also be restored.

Improved Sensor Search

We’ve improved the Karoo’s sensor searching behavior to make connecting to sensors more likely, especially after breaks in the middle of your rides. Now, Karoo will search for any disconnected sensors as soon as you start moving.



Updated CLIMBER Settings

We’ve updated the Settings page for CLIMBER on Karoo to make it more informative and easier to understand. We now include a direct link via QR Code to the Knowledge Base article for CLIMBER.



Improved Pre-Ride Status Bar

We’ve added Time of Day to the pre-ride Status Bar on Karoo.



Improved Sensor Battery Status

Instead of displaying voltages, you can now see your sensors’ battery statuses as either Full, High, Mid, Low, or Crit. Go to the sensor details for each sensor to see the battery level it had when your Karoo was last connected to it.



Updated Sensor List Icons

We’ve changed the sensor list icon from black to green for ANT+ Smart Lights that are connected. This should make it clearer that lights are connected properly.



Updated Routes Archive Design

We’ve made updates to the design of Routes Archive on both Karoo and Dashboard to make it clearer how to use Routes Archive.



Bug Fixes:

- [KAROO 2 ONLY] We’ve fixed a bug in Control Center that caused certain functions to be “skipped” when using Hardware Buttons to select a function.
- [KAROO 2 ONLY] We’ve fixed a bug that caused the screen brightness percentage shown in Control Center not to match the brightness percentage shown in Display Settings.
- [KAROO 2 ONLY] We’ve fixed a bug that allowed users to interact with Control Center pages that weren’t centered on the screen. For example, this meant you could swipe the screen brightness up and down while you were on the System Controls page.
- We’ve fixed an issue with SRM power meters that could cause an improper calibration value to be set automatically upon resuming your ride from a stop. This fix results in more reliable power recording with SRM power meters.
- We’ve fixed an issue that could cause Karoo to record an empty FIT file if a certain sensor crash occurred during the ride.
- We’ve fixed a bug that could prevent certain internet connections from syncing data properly. Note: If you still have connection issues, please reach out to support@hammerhead.io with the details.
- We’ve fixed a bug that ignored your sorting preferences when you searched for routes on Karoo.
- We’ve fixed a bug that caused Karoo to report improper (and very high) speed values if you began moving from a standstill with certain speed sensors.
- We’ve fixed a bug that prevented the Ride Time in the Status Bar from aligning left properly if a paired radar is not found. The radar icon would disappear, leaving the Ride Time “floating” to the right.
- We’ve fixed a bug that caused Karoo to turn off smart lights if they disconnected mid-ride.
- We’ve fixed a bug that prevented Karoo from properly powering off certain Radar devices upon Karoo being powered off.
- Notably, the Garmin Varia 510 Radar/Tail-Light does not support this feature, so this fix does not change how that specific product works with Karoo. This is specifically about fully powering down certain Radar devices automatically. Karoo still turns your Radar/Tail-Light to Off at the end of a ride.
- We’ve fixed a bug that caused Karoo to exit the Post Ride Summary if you turn the screen off while viewing it.
- We’ve fixed a bug that could break the link from Dashboard to individual rides uploaded to TrainingPeaks.
- We’ve fixed an issue during the Karoo’s Setup experience that could cause it to show a blank list of Offline Map regions.
- We’ve updated the Karoo’s mapping and navigation data.
- We’ve improved the speed of our routing algorithm on Karoo by up to 10%.
- We’ve improved the speed with which Karoo can sort long lists of Rides and Routes.
- We’ve changed the description and behavior of the toggle for Key Button Icons in Settings. The state of the toggle (off vs on) now matches the state of key button icons in-ride.
- We’ve changed many of the informative popups on Karoo to be usable with the Hardware Buttons. These have been updated in the style of the new Karoo 2 power menu.
- We’ve made updates to the design of Routes Archive on both Karoo and Dashboard to make it clearer how to use Routes Archive.

- We’ve fixed a bug that prevented importing more than 30 Starred Routes from Strava. You should no longer be limited by the number of Starred Routes you have.

New Data Fields

We’ve added two new data fields: Heading, and Lap Normalized Power®. Heading displays your current direction of travel (cardinal and intercardinal directions), and Lap Normalized Power® displays the Normalized Power® of the current lap.

We’ve now added the support for Ramp Intervals on imported .ZWO Workouts.



Bug Fixes:

- We’ve fixed an issue with SRM Power Meters where you could see large spikes in cadence and power upon beginning to pedal after a stop.

- Introducing Select Mode on Dashboard: now you can Archive, Unarchive, or Delete multiple routes at once, making it quick and easy to manage lots of routes.
- We’ve fixed a bug that could prevent new users from resetting the passwords to their Hammerhead Accounts.

[KAROO 2 ONLY] Improved Device Controls

We’ve made the Device Controls, introduced on 27 January 2022, available at all times under the Control Center. Previously they were only available while riding.

- Now, you can use the Control Center to ensure all sensors are connected properly before starting the ride. This includes the primary Devices page, as well as each light and Bluetooth audio device page.



New Data Fields

We’ve added the data field for Workout Target Power. If you follow power-based structured workouts, you can now use this field to view the interval’s current target power. We’ve also added the data field for Last Lap Time.

Note: We are building more Workout data fields and will release them soon. The workout control page will still be automatically added to your ride when you follow a workout on Karoo.

Updated Routes App

We’ve moved Collections to the top of the Routes App to help users with lots of routes keep them organized. For now, the only Collection available is Archive, for routes you don’t use frequently.



Reorganized Offline Maps List

"Downloaded Maps" are now available at the top of Offline Maps list on your Karoo, making it easier to manage the maps you have downloaded.



Updated Heading Data Field

We’ve updated the Heading data field to more clearly explain the conditions that might prevent Karoo from displaying a proper heading. These include GPS being disabled, no movement detected yet, etc.



Improved Routing Algorithm

We’ve improved our routing algorithm for longer routes to load faster on Karoo.



Bug Fixes:

- We’ve fixed two bugs that prevented certain ZWO workouts from working correctly: one stopped certain imports altogether, and the other caused cool-down ramps to work incorrectly.
- We’ve fixed a bug that caused Ascent to be shown as 0 for all routes when sorted by proximity on Karoo.
- We’ve fixed a bug that could cause the “Wifi Required” prompt to display when trying to download Offline Maps on Karoo, even if you have already connected to wifi.
- [KAROO 1 ONLY] We have swapped the Karoo 1’s response to a double-press of a Di2 hood button. This means the Karoo 1 responds to a double-press of each Di2 hood button identically to how Karoo 2 responds to the same input.



Dashboard Software:

- We’ve restyled the action menus for Rides, Routes, and Workouts on Dashboard. Now, it should be even easier to manage your Karoo and files from Dashboard.

[KAROO 2 ONLY] Improved Control Center

We’ve made a number of improvements to Control Center:

- When opening the Control Center for the first time after starting to ride, the first page will now be Ride Controls, to make it even easier to do the most likely things.
- When using the Control Center to search for sensors, you no longer have to wait for all sensors to stop searching before trying again.
- When zero-offsetting your power meter using Control Center, you can now send a new zero-offset command after a successful one without closing Control Center. This will be particularly useful to owners of ROTOR brand power meters, which require a two-step zero-offset process.
- For anyone who uses a SIM, you can now toggle cellular data directly from the Control Center.
- We’ve added a screen overlay to announce when a Wifi has been toggled or a radar has been muted or unmuted. This should help reduce the chances of accidentally changing settings in the Control Center without realizing it.


New Last Lap Data Fields

We’ve added Last Lap data fields for Distance, Average Speed, Average Power, and Normalized Power.



Added Workout Target Data Fields

We’ve added Workout Target data fields for Target Heart Rate and Target Cadence.



Improved .FIT File Recording

Karoo now records a variety of new information to the FIT files, including TrainingPeaks values such as TSS, IF and Lap values such as Avg Speed or Cadence per Lap. This should make it possible to analyze your ride data with more 3rd-party analysis tools.



Bug Fixes:

- We’ve fixed a bug that could cause shifting data fields to go blank mid-ride if connected to a SRAM drivetrain.
- We’ve fixed an issue that could cause certain routes to appear to be missing from the Routes list on Karoo.
- We’ve fixed a bug that could prevent workouts from appearing on Karoo if you have synced a lot of workouts in the past.
- We’ve fixed a bug where the orange line on the map for the Strava Live Segment you are riding appears on top of the current location marker.
- We’ve fixed a bug that caused Available Storage not to update after deleting a Downloaded Map Region on Karoo.
- We’ve fixed a bug that prevented CLIMBER from working on Komoot routes that included “Off Grid”/freehand sections (sections that are built without the “Follow Roads” feature on Komoot). CLIMBER would work up until the first “Off Grid”/freehand section and then not work again for the rest of the route.
- We’ve fixed a bug that sometimes caused Map data pages that had no data fields (i.e. an All Map Layout) to have a blank space covering part of the map. This was particularly likely to affect profiles that were only a Map page (i.e. no other pages in the profile).

Introducing CLIMBER Without A Route

Karoo can now predict your course of travel when riding without a route, so you can see every climb on every ride, even when you know the roads well.

Go to Dashboard to identify your Favorite routes, and have quick access to them from the Collections section at the top of the Routes list on Karoo.

New Interval Data Field

- We’ve improved the reliability of Ride Resume to handle longer rides.
- We’ve fixed a bug that could cause sensor connectivity issues if you had a smart light connected to Karoo, especially if using Control Center to change light modes on Karoo 2.
- We’ve fixed a bug that could cause your time zone to be incorrectly set on Karoo if using a SIM.
- The in-ride labels for Target Cadence, Target Power, Lap VAM, Average VAM, and 30s Average VAM data fields were not displaying as intended. They are now fixed.
- We’ve fixed a bug that made building a route on Karoo challenging by locking the available map view.
- For those who use an electronic drivetrain paired over ANT+ (SRAM, Campagnolo, or FSA), the Shifter Battery data field could show “0” for some time at the beginning of a ride, while the Karoo waits for the drivetrain to share its battery status. We’ve improved the treatment there to more clearly describe what’s happening.
- We’ve fixed a text sizing issue on the Route Preview page on Karoo in which Distance and Total Ascent could spill over onto two lines if the route were long enough.



Dashboard Software:

- We’ve fixed a bug with the option of “reversing” a route on Dashboard, in which certain routes failed to be properly reversed and would cause a software crash on Karoo when trying to follow them. This was especially common for Komoot routes that included freehand “Off Grid” sections.
- We’ve fixed a bug that could cause Routes from Connected Accounts (such as Strava) to be imported multiple times and duplicated on Dashboard/Karoo.

- Interval counter displays the current interval number out of the total number of intervals in the workout
- Workout Time Remaining displays the total time remaining to the end of workout.

- [KAROO 2 ONLY] We’ve fixed a bug in the Control Center that could cause it to be stuck on displaying “Performing zero offset…” until you reboot.
- We’ve fixed a bug that could cause the Karoo to display Strava Live Segments without their elevation graph or the icons of competitors.
- We’ve fixed an issue that could cause Karoo to stop displaying in-ride data properly on long rides if using the Historical Elevation data field.
- We’ve fixed an issue that could cause the route line to disappear from the map if you switch profiles, or if you load a route that requires Karoo to navigate to the start of it.

[KAROO 2 ONLY] New System Notifications In Control Center

We’ve added a System Notifications page to Control Center: now, whenever Karoo has a System Notification to show, it will be available in Control Center. Tap a minimized System Notification to read more, and tap an expanded System Notification to take action on it. [KAROO 2 ONLY] Improved Phone Connectivity

We’ve made a number of changes to improve connectivity to phones, including connecting as soon as you turn on Karoo (instead of waiting till you begin riding). You can monitor your phone’s connection status from Device Controls.



New Suunto Heatmaps

Introducing Suunto Heatmaps and Account Connection: you can now ride with your Karoo 2 and run, swim, and hike with your Suunto watch but still have all of your workouts visible in the Suunto App for performance analysis and more. By connecting your account on Dashboard, you’ll get three new features:

Rides done on Karoo will automatically upload to Suunto.
Routes in your Suunto library will automatically be synced to Karoo.
Unique among our partners, these routes will never require manually syncing from Dashboard – if they are updated in your Suunto library, they’ll stay up-to-date on Karoo automatically!
You will also be able to view Suunto Heatmaps in-ride on Karoo, making it easy to find the most popular places to ride, no matter where you are.

Introducing Custom Route Collections

Now you can organize your routes however you want. Create your Collections on Dashboard, and they’ll appear automatically on Karoo. Add your routes to as many or as few Collections as you like. Visit our Knowledge Base to learn more about Custom Route Collections.



Improved Elevation And Grade Accuracy

We’ve made a number of improvements to the accuracy of elevation and grade data in CLIMBER and the Upcoming Elevation data field.



Redesigned In-Ride Alerts

We’ve redesigned our in-ride alerts on Karoo to improve legibility and clarity. These include the alerts that you haven’t begun or resumed the ride recording, as well as low battery alerts for Karoo and connected sensors.

Updated Profiles

We’ve made a number of changes to profiles to make it even easier to use your Karoo, for new and existing users alike. We’ve introduced the ability to duplicate a profile, as well as made it clearer how to rename, reorder, and delete them. We’ve also improved the profiles that come preloaded on Karoo.



Redesigned POI Interface

We’ve redesigned the interface for navigating to a POI to include more information and easier controls. Tap on any POI on the map to see how far you are from the pin, as well as the option to navigate to it (or cancel navigation to it). You can also cancel navigation to a POI using the Control Center. New Current Grade Algorithm

We’ve rewritten our algorithm for calculating real-time Current Grade on the Karoo. It’s now significantly more accurate and responsive. We’ve also added a tenths digit decimal place, and record instantaneous grade to the FIT File. Visit Dashboard to review the maximum, minimum, and average grades for each ride.



Improved Upcoming Elevation Graph

The upcoming elevation graph on Karoo will now show road-grade elevation for bridges and tunnels.



Bug Fixes:

- We’ve fixed a bug that could lead Karoo to burn through the battery much faster than it normally does.

Introducing Auto-Lap by Location

Now, if you’re racing in a crit or cross race, or you’re training in your local park, you can keep your hands on the bars and let Karoo mark your laps for you.
- Auto-Lap Pins can be placed whenever you press the lap button, as well as at the start of recording. A new lap will be marked whenever you ride through those points again in the same ride.
- Unique to Karoo, Auto-Lap Pins that are placed while moving will only trigger if you ride through them in the same direction, preventing incorrect laps being marked if the course doubles back on itself.

Introducing Support For ANT+ Tire Pressure Sensors

Now, you can connect your ANT+ Tire Pressure sensor to Karoo. Add the new Front and Rear Tire Pressure data fields to your profiles, and monitor tire pressure in real time in-ride.

Tire pressure is also written to the FIT file, for you to review how the tire pressure compares to your performance on a course.

Added Shift Data for .FIT Files

Shift data can be viewed on Dashboard after each ride, in summary as well as line graph form.

From the sensor info page of your connected drivetrain, you can configure your gearing to see your recorded shift data as tooth counts (e.g. 52x28) instead of gear indices (e.g. 2x11). Note: showing tooth counts in-ride is in development but not yet possible.

New Post-Ride Upload Status For Control Center

After you finish your ride, Karoo will now inform you of ride upload progress and status. From Control Center on Karoo 2 (or Quick Settings on the original Karoo) you can monitor your ride’s upload progress from “waiting for internet connection” all the way to “successfully synced to your connected 3rd parties” (e.g. Strava).



Added AXS Web Account Connection For Dashboard

You can now connect your AXS Web account to your Hammerhead Account on Dashboard. Rides recorded on Karoo 2 can be synced automatically to AXS Web for detailed shift analysis, tire pressure analysis, and more.

Removal Of Select Di2 Features

At the request of Shimano, some functionality between Di2 drivetrains and Hammerhead Karoo computers has been removed. Specifically, this update removes on-screen battery status and shifter mode data, front and rear derailleur indications, and Karoo screen control via the Di2 hood buttons from Shimano Di2 drivetrains.

- [KAROO 2 ONLY] We’ve fixed a bug with Light Controls where the Light Mode slider could show as being set to Off when the light is On. Now the slider properly shows the current light mode.
- [KAROO 2 ONLY] We’ve fixed a bug that prevented phone notifications from being shown with a 24-hour time if you have your Karoo 2 set to use 24-hour time.
- We’ve fixed a bug with Indoor Profiles that could cause them to have a single line of GPS data at the beginning of the FIT file, causing them to upload improperly to 3rd parties (e.g. Strava). Now, Indoor rides will be 100% GPS-free.

Updated ANT+ Drivetrain Information

If you have an ANT+ drivetrain or a dual-sided power meter with multiple batteries, Karoo will now identify which battery is low (front derailleur, left-side power, etc.) instead of the sensor name. If you have an ANT+ drivetrain, you can now see your current gear in-ride displayed as a Tooth Count (instead of a Gear Index) with the Gears data field. Note: the Front Gear and Rear Gear data fields will continue to display as Gear Indices, in case you prefer to see your gearing that way. Seeing tooth counts requires configuring your drivetrain from Sensor Details.

Improved Sensor Details Page

Introducing a simplified and improved Sensor Details page for all of your sensors added on Karoo. Now it’s easier than ever to check the connection or battery status, configure your sensor’s information, and more. If a sensor has more than one battery (e.g. your AXS groupset with 4 batteries), you can see the status of each battery individually.



Simplified Sensor Experience

To simplify the sensor experience on Karoo, we’ve removed "Built-in GPS" from the sensors list. To determine whether GPS is on or off, go to the Profiles App on Karoo to configure your profiles as Outdoor or Indoor profiles. Note that if you connect a speed sensor while using an Outdoor profile, the Karoo will use the speed sensor for speed and distance calculation.



Improved ANT+ Low Pressure Alerts

We’ve improved the “Low Pressure” alerts for ANT+ Tire Pressure sensor users to only trigger when a leak is detected in your tire. Now, you can use the ANT+ Tire Pressure sensor’s target pressure to inflate your tires precisely, while still relying on Karoo to alert you if anything is wrong mid-ride.



New ANT+ Tire Pressure Data Field

We’ve added a new graphical data field for ANT+ Tire Pressure sensor users. It shows both front and rear tires’ pressure, each tire’s target pressure once it is configured, and whether or not the pressure is outside of your target limits (green indicates within your set limits, red indicates outside of your set limits).

Introducing Profile-Based Sensors

You can now associate your sensors to individual profiles, so Karoo only searches for the right sensors, every ride. This is especially helpful if you have multiple bikes with lots of different sensors. This is optional, though, and if you don’t think you’ll benefit from this level of configuration, don’t worry – you can still continue using Karoo exactly as you always have.



Improved Tire Pressure Sensor Configuration

We’ve added the ability to configure your tire pressure sensors straight from the Karoo. You can now set Front vs. Rear Wheel, Target Pressure, and Target Pressure Range from your tire pressure sensor’s Sensor Details page.

Updated Route Details Page Design

We’ve updated the design of the Route Details page to better match other pages on Karoo. We also made it easier to rename or delete a route from Karoo.

Now you‘ll see yellow chevrons when you’re on your route, red chevrons when you’re off-route, and purple chevrons when navigating to a Pin.



Improved Climb Detection

We’ve improved the accuracy of detecting the beginning and end points of climbs. This improvement will be most pronounced when following long routes, and the further along the route the climb is.



Added Options for Combined Speed/Cadence Sensors

We’ve introduced the ability to select the data you want your combined speed/cadence sensor to provide (speed, cadence, or both). This is particularly useful if you only want your combined speed/cadence sensor to provide cadence on outdoor rides. Go to the sensor’s Details page on Karoo to configure this setting for each of your combined speed/cadence sensors.



Simplified Sensors List

We’ve simplified the Sensors List by removing the ANT+ and BT Toggles. These radios are now on by default, and they will turn off when you don’t need them (based on which connected devices you have paired and enabled) to save battery.



Updated Pin Design

We’ve updated the design of Pins to differentiate Global Pins from Route and Ride-only Pins.



New Expandable Turn Cues

We’ve made turn cues expandable, so you can see longer road names. Tap a turn cue to expand it.



Improved Route List and Route Detail Page

Updated Route Preview Map

We’ve updated the width of the map in Route Preview on Karoo so that Distance and Ascent are easier to see.

Drawer Settings Now Configurable Per Profile

We’ve moved all Drawer Settings to being configurable per profile, instead of previously configured at a device-wide level.

- This includes Turn-by-turn settings, Phone notification settings, Strava Live Segments settings, CLIMBER settings, and Auto-lap settings.
- If you frequently switch between different styles of riding (indoor/outdoor, training/racing, intervals/recovery rides, etc.), you can now create profiles for each of those riding styles with customized Drawer settings, so switching between them is easier than ever.
- If you’re thinking “I never switch between different riding styles,” don’t worry! You can still update to this software version, and Karoo will save your current device-wide settings to each of your profiles, and your in-ride experience will be no different than it is today.

Introducing Switch To Map

When following a route or navigating to a Pin, Karoo can now automatically switch to your map screen when approaching a maneuver and back to your data screen after you take the turn. Turn this feature on from Turn-By-Turn Settings in your Profiles.

Added Distance to Your Destination On Cue Sheet

We’ve added the Distance To Your Destination at the bottom of the cue sheet. Now, you can always see how far you are from the destination on your route, without needing to add Distance To Destination as a data field in your profiles.


Improved Navigation Cues

We’ve improved the way navigation cues appear in the cue sheet when you miss a turn or go off route. Now, when you go off-route, the cues required to get you back on-route are red. This makes it simple and easy to see how far you have till you’re back on route, which turns are reroutes and the ones that are part of the original route.


Updated Pin-Drop Experience

We’ve improved the experience of dropping a Pin by long-pressing on the map. Now, the Pin-drop map view will have the same orientation and zoom level as your map page on the ride, as well as the route line, making it easier to place your Pin.

- Note: turn-by-turn instruction in these sections will be limited on Karoo. When you follow the route, Karoo will instruct you to follow the route line on your map page.
- We’ve made an important change to the way Pins are created and edited on Dashboard. There are two distinct types of Pins, those saved to Global and those saved to Routes.
- Now, when you create Pins, you’re given the choice of how you want to save the new Pin. If you want to take an existing Route pin and use it on every route, instead of replacing it with a Global Pin, you will now duplicate it with a new Global pin.
- We’ve improved the elevation graph for reviewing rides on Dashboard, so that there’s only one Y-axis at a time. This keeps the graph from changing sizes when you toggle data on and off.
