The Garmin external battery pack has a nice mount, but otherwise pretty $$ for an external battery.
The issue it raises is how to cable an external power pack to address the battery life issue for the small group that needs loooong rides
and for failing bats that are not replaceable.
The USB/C ports are vulnerable and there have been failures from stress with solder separation internally.
A custom cable end might be a big help. w/ 90 degree turn and short
The magnetic cable connectors are not inspiring .
The safety of off brand cables and a geometry that may stress the socket mount and make poor connection creates a concern.

My phone repair guy does board level repairs, and can adapt the BMS and connections to generic internal batteries without much problem.
The karoos use generic bats, though you don't get the HH vetting and QC, an out of warranty bat is in an otherwise unsalvageable machine at this point.
This is good since I am a klutz and they won't let me near anything hot anymore.

STILL?! Srsly, HH, WTF.
Luckily I got my K1 USB fixed by a Chinese dude with a microscope and a cellphone soldering station, now I've hot-glued it in to prevent that from happening again. If they didn't fix that stupid design in the K2 that's a major fail.

I use a large K-Edge mount and a 90° cable, works perfectly as it leaves just enough space between the Karoo and the handlebar to keep the plug from going anywhere while not creating any stress while turning the computer to lock it in the mount. I wind the cable around the handlebar once and route it to a small frame bag where the power bank lives.
And yes, I've tried the magnetic cables, too, and they didn't work for me either. Neither the more complicated 4-pin data cables (unusable) nor the round-with-center-pin charging-only ones (sort of work for a while, but still tend to fall off on rough roads).

Just wondering if anyone has found any Magnetic USBC adapter that works.

I'm fed up with losing the USBC Grommet and considering if the magnetic USBC adapters work?
