Pausing a ride using an existing route

Trying to find a way to rejoin a ride after pausing for a break while on a route (say a 1 hour lunch). Hope to use the Karoo 2 for all day bike packing rides. Have used auto-pause, as well as manual pause. When trying to ride after the break, HH won’t let you continue on the paused route. It’s like it only recognizes a pause of a minute or two. Only way I’ve found to keep riding is to save the ride portion before the pause, then to start a ‘new’ ride along the same route. This leaves you with several separate ride reports from the same route. Really would like to find a way for this to work, as I don’t want to return this unit for a refund. Thanks.
