K2 Initial Impressions

Post by dthempel »

Got my K2 yesterday and rode a whopping 1 time (and only the 3rd time since the start of the new year). I'll probably have a video up on my dusty YT channel later today. If anyone's interested in just the text highlights...

The Good:
- Weight and size are down.
- Beeper is useful, even if I didn't think I needed/wanted it.
- Phone/companion app is nice and works.
- Screen is still great (if under-used color-wise)
- SW is still good, not great
- New mount seems good.
- No more teasing about "Is that an iPad on your handlebar?"

The Bad (and these appear to mostly be SW, so not a fault of the K2):
- Use of color is still bad. (SW)
- UI, in my opinion, still not good enough (SW). Changing info in ride is still a mystery (to me)?
- Garmin adapter is a bit loose, even in HH's own mount. Probably not an issue if you use the supplied mount.

The "Meh":
- Button placement is different and my "brain" can't adjust. :)

The IDK:
- Sideloading apps easier? Not sure what I'd use to test. Want a "screen mirror" app to record Karoo screen for video use...
