Suggestions for Bluetooth speakers/headphones

Post by ANW »

The most recent update added bluetooth audio to the Karoo. Does anybody have any suggestions for a good Bluetooth speaker or headphones to use with the Karoo.

I haven't used it with the Karoo yet, but it was good for Google Maps : JBL CLIP 3 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker
It clips on with an integrated metal carabiner.

If you just want to get warning and TBT sounds the Polk Boom Bit might be an option for you.
It‘s cheap, light weight and can be clipped on to your cycling clothes.

It's not water resistant so you'd need to be careful.

I just ordered and Olafus bike speaker with mount for $14.39 from Amazon. It will arrive 12/9. It had good reviews and for that price I couldn't resist. I'll let you know how it performs.

Yes you could think so, as it is not mentioned in the specs, but if you look at the owners manual https://docs.google.com/viewerng/viewe ... Manual.pdf on their home page it is stated, that the Boom Bit is water-, dirt- and shock-proof. Attributes I would expect from a speaker build for outdoor sport
I‘ve already made some rides in rain with it without any issues.

Have you seen the dimension of the speaker?!?
For me definitely far too big to put it on my road bike.

I used Anker SoundBuds before until they developed an issue and sound too effing awful even for TBT instructions. They're cheap, waterproof and have OK battery life; they're in-ear but if you use the smallest rubber bits (and have bigger ear canals of course) they still stay in well and don't block sounds too much.
After they died, I got a Vocalskull Beyond5 which is even better as it's a bone-conduction device. Also fully waterproof. My only complaint so far is the flimsy USB port cover.

Been using myTREKZ Titanium bone phones for over a year now, they are paired to my Karoo but I forgot to test them with on the last ride, tomorrow I hope. They work very well and my ears don't itch so much plus I can hear others talking & the road noise.

I purchased this item and it did not connect with the Karoo at all! It did not even show up as a BT device.

That's strange. Were you able to connect it to other devices as your phone, for example? Normally, there is no difference which brand a device is, as long as it uses a compatible technology.

I am really happy with my Aftershokz Aeropex. It keeps the ears free for saver cycling, but also stays well in place while running. And sound is surprisingly good.

Ghetto shopper that I am , I found some in ear BT for $2.69US, but when grabbing the link, they have gone UP to $2.99
(though I have seen them for $1.50)
They work pretty good, not the longest battery (60-80mAh/~2hr) but they cost less than a coffee.
