Chris Froome Discussing Karoo 2

I was listening to the new Bobby Julich and Jens Voigt podcast today. They mentioned Chris Froome giving an unscripted, completely open assessment of his new Israel Startup Nation Factor bicycle. So I flipped over to it on YouTube. And low and behold, there was Froome giving a candid, five minute re...

Great Karoo 2 Case

If anyone is looking for a cheap way to protect their new Karoo 2, then I can wholeheartedly endorse the Pelican Micro 1010 Case ($13 USD on Amazon). There is about a 2mm gap between the Karoo 2 and the rubber bumper insert that comes with the case. The lanyard fills that gap. Even without the lanya...

Rerouting

I am a very early K1 owner. While HH struggled early with their software, I've been extremely impressed with how far they have come. So impressed that I immediately ordered a K2 when given the opportunity. Today I was out for a ride. The weather was supposed to get better during the ride, but never ...

Re: What is the major difference between Karoo1 and Karoo2 that you would make you buy the Karoo2 ?

I preordered my Karoo 2 the minute I received the email. I was also a very early owner of the Karoo 1. There was no single thing that swayed me to upgrade to the K2. It was more of the sum of the changes: smaller size, faster processor, more storage, more advanced Android version (more sideloading o...

Re: Karoo Barfly Mount

My road and mountain bikes have Barflys, while my gravel bike has a SRAM mount. My Karoo fits snugly into each. Last weekend I was riding gnarly gravel, dirt, mud, rocks in the bowels of the Catskill Mountains on my gravel bike. Bombed a three mile, rugged descent with the SRAM mount and no issues. ...

Re: K2 Down Payment Made

Hmmm... Tossing an old cycling computer in the trash is akin to driving over a human being with a car? I didn’t see that coming. Anyway... Since we obviously got off on the wrong foot, Psyclist, I’d like to try and make this right. I’ll sell you my Karoo 1 for the $120 (free shipping to US address) ...

Re: K2 Down Payment Made

If I sell for $200, I have to give eBay $20. So I made all of $60 over trade-in to endure the hassle of eBay. No thanks. And if I sell it to someone, they'll just use it for a few years and trash it as it will be worth nothing by then. So I'm not preventing disposal, just delaying it. I actually hav...

K2 Down Payment Made

I just made my $99 down Payment for the Karoo 2. I'm not sure I'll pull the trigger when the time comes, but it gets me a slot and it's refundable. Hopefully, some more info comes out between now and when I have to make the delivery decision. The $120 refund for returning the Karoo 1 is, I believe, ...

Re: Sold Out?

I second Nordog’s agreement. I ordered and received a pretty impressive piece of hardware. Granted, the turn-by-turn direction capability was terrible for a good while, but I simply side loaded Komoot and was off to the races. In over two years, my device has never shutdown unexpectedly or had any t...

HH on The Move Podcast

Today I was listening to the latest version of The Move podcast - Lance Armstrong’s racing focused content (cue hissing). Anyway, he was talking about his advertising sponsors and for the first time since his podcast started he plugged Hammerhead. He described the Karoo as going from a late 1990s Bl...

Re: Sold Out?

I just received an email from HH on the recent software update. It linked to a nice looking page with very detailed info on the Training Peaks and Map updates. If they are on the verge of failure, they are putting on a pretty good show of not letting on. Which, I suppose, is entirely possible for ma...

Re: Deny Allow

The Deny and Allow look identical. They are just words, with no button like border. There is nothing covering the Allow button that would appear to affect its functionality. When I touch Allow, nothing happens. Period. There is no way to "X Out" of the window, so the only way to get it to ...

Deny Allow

Most sideloaded apps require you to allow them to access the Karoo. It's always a simple popup window with the choices of Deny or Allow. My Karoo will NEVER let me choose allow. It will always allow me to choose deny, which is the only way to close the window, since you must choose one. And I can't ...

Re: Installing Komoot 10.x fails

This is exactly the issue! Thanks, Steve. And thanks to dbraeis for the link. My own Google search failed to find this.

APK versions work fine. XAPK versions don't work at all.

Re: Sideloaded Apps Not Updating

This is perfect and EXACTLY what is happening. The minute an app goes to XAPK, the Karoo operating system can't handle it. Once I rolled back Komoot to the last APK version, it loaded instantly.

HUGE thanks to you for helping out on this. It's things like this that make this forum so valuable.

Re: Installing Komoot 10.x fails

Ever since Komoot switched to an xapk file from an apk file, I have been unable to install it. I have APKPure side loaded and that is what I used to first install Komoot. Since the article says to use APKPure to install xapk files, and that’s what I am trying to use (to no avail), I’m not sure what ...

Re: Handlebar Mounts

Mike,

I use the supplied Hammerhead mount on my road bike, and Bar Fly mounts on my gravel and mountain bikes. Not a single problem with either of them.

Sideloaded Apps Not Updating

Until recently, all of my sideloaded apps have updated flawlessly. But last week I open APKPure and noticed several available updates. The APKPure update worked great, leaving Komoot and Dropbox updates. When I press the "UPDATE" button for Komoot, it turns to a % download button and it sh...
