Re: Karoo 2 is coming

$100 with a trade-in would be what I'd be willing to spend. I was one of the first to buy it but gave up about a year ago, switching to the Sigma Rox 12.0. I know there have been a lot of improvements since then but the navigation was too unreliable for me, and now that I have the Sigma I see how st...

Re: Routing issues

Thanks. Sounds like it's sort of there. How do you pick the destination? Either use the touch screen to tap on the map or pick a preset POI?

Re: Routing issues

I got a reply from HH. No, it doesn't work... If you have the route loaded on the Karoo and the offline maps available, you would not need the internet connection for navigation. However, if you wish to do navigation by creating a route on the Karoo (offline route creation) or search by address then...

Re: Routing issues

I'm asking if there's off-line routing. For example, if I have no connectivity, can I create a new route, starting at my current location, and then follow it with TBT directions. It used to be that you couldn't do that.

Thanks.

Routing issues

I stopped using my Karoo a while ago because I found its support for routing was both buggy and lacking in features I wanted. I know there have been a number of updates since I left the Karoo fold and was wondering... - Is there now support for off-line route creation if the needed maps have been do...

Mine's still available if you're willing to get it from outside Europe.

Re: Garmin Vs Karoo update

I'm not sure why the Sigma Rox 12.0 never enters into these discussions. I've found it to be solid and from the start have more functionality than the Karoo. It's even Android based, although it does not allow side loading. The Karoo's display is nicer. Finally, it recently dropped its price to 350U...

Re: Hmm.... Garmin 530

Dobbell, If you know of any other potential fans of the Karoo I"m willing to sell mine for under $300. Seriously. Also, the Sigma Rox 12.0 can be used with the touchscreen or buttons. I'm not sure why it's not getting more attention. Many features and works well. Amazon has had it priced anywhere fr...

Re: Hmm.... Garmin 530

If you're looking for a non-Garmin that's appears solid and has excellent navigation give Sigma's Rox 12.0 a try. I've seen it on sale a few times for $100 off, making it competitively priced as well. I started this cycling season using the Rox 12.0 and been happy so far. I'd forgotten what it's lik...

Re: Looking for a Karoo within Europe

Interested in buying one from the States? I assume it could be valued at a fairly low amount for taxes and shipping is hopefully not too much so long as you don't want it overnight.

Re: Bad news about battery drain...

I don't mind them taking the time to get things right. What I think is bad is that they keep doing these 2-week sprints where they don't get things right. 2 weeks is simply too short a time for a release. ATG testing alone should be for at least two weeks. Also, they should provide a way to roll bac...

Re: Auto elevation calibration

I verified with HH support: Both WiFi and cellular (SIM card) internet connections can be used to call the service to get an elevation from a location. So now that I finally understand how "automatic" calibration is working I'm curious: Has anyone given it a try as intended? Specifically, at the sta...

Re: Auto elevation calibration

I too think what they did makes sense. GPS altitude readings are inaccurate. Initial barometer readings can also be inaccurate due to weather changes, etc. But GPS location readings are accurate. Consequently using the GPS location to look up the altitude in an on-line database (see https://www.free...

Re: Auto elevation calibration

I just finished a long dialogue with HH support about this. Ashish from support said: - Auto-calibration only takes place 1)At the start of the ride. 2)If WiFi is active. - When auto-calibration does occur it is based solely on the GPS coordinates (I assume they do a query to a server that has eleva...

Auto elevation calibration

Does anyone understand how this works? Does auto-calibration just set the elevation at the start of the ride based on barometric pressure? Does it do anything else? After the elevation is set at the start of a ride, either via an auto or manual setting, will the # of feet/meters of ascent/descent be...

Do you know if you can use the demo (http://demo.traccar.org/) as the server if you're just interested in tracking a single device?

Re: Pre-release 1.5.305.3 Notes...

Has HH ever changed the software to fix bugs between when it's released to the early testing group and the general user community? I'm just curious because there have been some serious bugs, such as the blank screen one in the last release, found during testing but then not fixed before release. I w...
