Re: Sensor List

I have read miles of posts about if a garmin vivo active 3 heart rate syncs with the Karoo and I still am not sure. I bought the Karoo because the support team said it would, but it doesnt appear to. Is there a way to get the HR from the watch to sync to the Karoo? Many Garmin watches have the abil...

Re: Hello from Switzerland

Hopefully it will actually become "open" and they'll let other devs in. Right now, not so much...

Welcome, though!

Re: Upload to Strava does not show followed route anymore

Was apparently related to the Strava partner integration. Reportedly, Wahoo and others were also affected, although I didn't notice it with my friends who have non-Garmin devices...

"Paid promotion".

Starting to lose a little faith in GCN. Not exactly a review if they're getting paid to do it (by the manufacturer, not the employer).

Re: which features in New Software Release (Aug/Sept 2019)

That roadmap is so obsolete it is hardly recognizable. They promised an update two months ago but haven’t made good on that promise. Along with most of the other undelivered-upon promises. Everyone's "list" of "must haves" is also different. Most on your list, other than opening an app store, are u...

Re: Strava Partner Integration

Seems new. As usual, their PR efforts are odd at best. You'd think this would have been prefixed by a big ol' blog post instead of leaking out first... For the record, the color is ugly. I guess all the "good" ones were taken?

Re: Hidden "feature" in 1.66.645.3...

Sorry, but they should have told the ATG group. We could have specifically done some testing instead of spending half the week speculating on "is it better?" I'm not unhappy with the improvement -- far from it -- I'm just baffled by their continued communication stumbles. The "glossy" email came out...

Hidden "feature" in 1.66.645.3...

Folks should probably notice battery improvement in this version. For some reason, they didn't announce it to the ATG group and we "found" it, and they then admitted that they had been tweaking it and hoped we noticed. Seems a weird way to "test", but I guess it's one way to do it. Reports are that ...

YouTube blast from HH...

Not sure if anyone's following them on YT, but they released a dozen (?) videos in the last 24 hours with short blurbs about different Karoo features and current "How To's". They're not terrible or disingenuous, although I chuckled a little seeing a few bugs pop up (ex., turn off Bluetooth only to h...

Re: Karoo SIM trial offer

Probably not the thread for the question and I don't think anyone can answer without knowing how you plan to use the Karoo when away from WiFi. If you have sideloaded any apps, those may use data, too. Uploads to the cloud are what I typically use the mobile data for out of convenience. I could wait...

Re: ATG Release 1.64.641.3

I guess I'm a bad "tester" right now. For the most part, my Karoo has been working fine. ::knock wood:: I don't really need it for navigation, but have put in a few courses via the dashboard and/or third parties and ridden them successfully. Since I don't need the navigation and am ostensibly "train...

Re: Another "Kickstarter" computer...

It wasn't an endorsement, only an entry point for discussion. Several of us have come to the same conclusion about Karoo's outsourced initial software development in that they now don't (seem to) know how to -- or be able to -- iterate quickly on it. The whole "by cyclists, for cyclists" rings hollo...

Re: ATG Release 1.54.624.3

What I'm not getting: why the "attaching" of different sensors to bikes? Dashboards, yes, obviously you'd be interested in different things on say a MTB or a road bike. But if a sensor is not physically present, it's simply not connected, right? I don't have several bikes to try but at some point I...

Re: ATG Release 1.54.624.3

I'll agree with John here. You didn't really want the previous releases, so it was a good call on HH's part not to release generally. There were enough bugs and annoyances that it would have been further regression for most instead of improvement. The bike profiles, while OK, are really only a start...
