Re: Sold Out?

The Christmas discount should really make you think. I wonder if anyone remembers this “money grab” from a few years ago ( bike stem computer ) https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/speedforce-the-world-s-smartest-cycling-computer They did a press run...sent out a few...got people interested...took MA...

Re: Sold Out?

I believe the Hammerhead Karoo was a “money grab”. Those who were LUCKY to receive a unit from their inventory...were the test pilots and advertisers of the product. If there was a restock or NEW unit coming...I’m almost positive they would make new customers aware on their website. Be happy you ha...

Would be great if there will be a Karoo V2 ;-)
I'd only be interested in v1.1 or v2.0 if there was a significant trade-in or upgrade program. Assuming my battery holds up and there are no major faults with my unit, I don't really need/want to spend another $300 right now...

Re: Sold Out?

Couldn't be that hard to write the truth with 1-2 sentences... Isn't it? I would tend to agree, except that if there is a new unit forthcoming, they probably can't say as investors and others might get torque'd off. "Something" is clearly happening. One thing is maybe good (although not for current...

Re: MTB Use (XC/Down Country)

For road and with the new bracket foot, it seems reasonably solid and the reports of broken mounts seem to have dropped off. I don't mountain bike (much), but have used it a couple of times and it's nice to have trails show up in the mapping. I race 'cross in the fall and won't use it for that as I ...

Re: Noob questions

Not true, unless something changed. Your grade on a climb will only show if you're following a pre-planned route. The Karoo doesn't use the on-board altimeter and it doesn't keep topography, so it can't know what the grade is unless you're following a course.

Pretty solid simplification of the issues, right? No "phone connectivity" and limited application of the TbT without a speaker/beep...

Re: Live tracking data requirements

It's possible Stuart from Mokanix could comment on this and/or get the details. I'll try to send him an email and see if it's able to see that level of detail. I used mine for about 80 minutes (of ride time) yesterday and unfortunately, blew through 2/3rds of the battery in that time. Not sure if it...

Normalized power? I'm pretty sure that's what's display when you have power on a "lap" page. I have it, but don't have my Karoo in front of me to look.

Re: Garmin Varia Radar Support

I some times wish it could pick up other cyclists as well as other traffic, the few times that I'm slow enough for other riders to catch up, it would nice to know they are closing to me before I stop or turn off to the right etc. You should be hand-signaling your intentions even if you don't think ...

Re: Current status?

I'm probably just preaching to the choir here, but I guess I'll chime in so you have multiple perspectives. 1. Mostly? There are reports here and elsewhere about dodgy units. Mine has been stable and until recently I had avoided a reset. Had to do one recently because the unit got stuck in a loop re...

Re: Sensor List

I have read miles of posts about if a garmin vivo active 3 heart rate syncs with the Karoo and I still am not sure. I bought the Karoo because the support team said it would, but it doesnt appear to. Is there a way to get the HR from the watch to sync to the Karoo? Many Garmin watches have the abil...

Was apparently related to the Strava partner integration. Reportedly, Wahoo and others were also affected, although I didn't notice it with my friends who have non-Garmin devices...

"Paid promotion".

Starting to lose a little faith in GCN. Not exactly a review if they're getting paid to do it (by the manufacturer, not the employer).

Re: which features in New Software Release (Aug/Sept 2019)

That roadmap is so obsolete it is hardly recognizable. They promised an update two months ago but haven’t made good on that promise. Along with most of the other undelivered-upon promises. Everyone's "list" of "must haves" is also different. Most on your list, other than opening an app store, are u...

Re: Strava Partner Integration

Seems new. As usual, their PR efforts are odd at best. You'd think this would have been prefixed by a big ol' blog post instead of leaking out first... For the record, the color is ugly. I guess all the "good" ones were taken?

Re: Hidden "feature" in 1.66.645.3...

Sorry, but they should have told the ATG group. We could have specifically done some testing instead of spending half the week speculating on "is it better?" I'm not unhappy with the improvement -- far from it -- I'm just baffled by their continued communication stumbles. The "glossy" email came out...
