The question is--what will Hammerhead select for in their hiring process?
Have you applied? Sounds like they could use you! :)

Re: ATG Release 1.28.537.3

There's quite a bit of chatter that I haven't gone through, but it seems like people are having issues. I went to use the Karoo on Saturday to find the battery completely dead. I *hate* the sleep behavior of the Karoo and can never remember to fully shut down. If *anything* is left on -- wifi, locat...

Re: ATG Release 1.28.537.3

Not much feedback here, although I'm seeing a little more activity and traction in the ATG "official" forum. Looks like adding people has at least increased the volume (and probably quality) of the traffic. I was only able to manage one, albeit long, ride this weekend and the device was fine. I didn...

Re: New release schedule?

I've done a couple 2.5+ hour rides on the current firmware without any such issues. I think I've said as much, but maybe only in my YT videos. Drop-outs are reduced to the point of almost being gone. I still see some "lag" (I think) on the more graphic-intensive screens that seems to get worse over...

Re: HH Blog post and release news

Guess I mis-worded my comment, but whatever... They seem to think the "cycling experience" is secondary. I'm saying that needs to be first. A cyclist understands what should be on the screen and has ideas about how it should be presented. A UI designer wants it to "look pretty" maybe at the expense ...

Re: HH Blog post and release news

I don't think they're going about it the right way. They don't need a UI/graphic designer with "knowledge of the cycling market and use-case ". They need a cyclist who's also a software developer willing to take on UI improvements as their core function but able to chip in and help with the rest of ...

Re: New release schedule?

The ATG group didn't get a release last week, so I wouldn't hold your breaths for anything imminent. I'm not sure it's fair to characterize that they're not listening at all, but I think the timing was such that they didn't get much time to review any reports. I can really only ride on the weekends ...

Re: 1.21.495.3 update re-downloads (again) offline areas...

Then may I offer my sincerest apologies to Doug. My bad. The only thing keeping me off podiums in 'cross races is my own fitness and ability. I do it for fun. I'm well aware of my limitations and expectations. The point was that the Karoo is extra bulky and unstable and there's no mount that I can ...

Re: ATG Release 1.21.495.3

Come on guys, this is a good effort. Let’s see how it goes. It wasn't terrible in my one-hour freezing cold ride. No restarts, which seems to plague people below freezing. My ride was 26 degrees according to Karoo. Here's what I posted to the ATG forum: - Centering the numbers in the data fields is...

ATG Release 1.21.495.3

Hello ATG Members, The first software update for 2019 is now available to download on your Karoo. This release introduces a high-contrast map style for easier viewing under bright sunlight, new look homescreen and data fields, custom drag-and-drop data field layouts, and off-route notifications. You...

Re: 1.17.424.3 update re-downloads (again) offline areas...

I don't believe the doubled sample rate was ever noted to the ATG users. Or was ever in the previous notes? My Karoo is a unreliable paperweight right now and it's too heavy to race 'cross with. Now that that season is done (for me), I might start using it again, but only if New England weather coop...

Re: Dashboard update - 1.0.012

Supposedly you can also now share a link to a route with another Karoo user. If either edits the route, changes appear for all who share it. I’ve tried this but can’t seem to make it work. Anyone else try this? *This* would actually be a cool feature for those that organize group rides or events th...

Battery Hotfix to ATG

Hello ATG Member, Your Karoo has just received an update to address the increased in-ride battery drain affecting many Karoo users. We want to make this fix available to the general public as soon as possible, so any immediate testing you’re able to do is greatly appreciated. We believe that battery...

Re: Bad news about battery drain...

I'm not really concerned with battery life right now. I don't ride for 3+ hours (particularly in winter). I posted about the battery to let folks know about the delay in the next release. What I *AM* concerned about is the data loss, lag, etc. combined with the battery issues and the continued appea...

Re: Bad news about battery drain...

I've finally asked for my aging Garmin 510 back from a friend who borrowed it. She's currently using her phone and didn't seem interested in figuring it out, so I'm getting it back this week. Not sure if I'll go back to double-recording or just put the Karoo on the shelf hoping beyond a reasonable h...

Bad news about battery drain...

The below means that anyone *not* in the ATG is going to wait at least 3 weeks for the battery "fix". This is assuming the ATG members don't find any show-stoppers two weeks from now... ----- Hello ATG Members, We've got some big updates on the horizon for you. With that in mind, we won't be sending...

Re: Auto elevation calibration

Using the "raw" GPS number can't be worse than the situation I'm seeing on most rides, where I'm sitting ocean-side and seeing an "elevation" in Death Valley or higher than the highest point in a 30 mile radius. GPS fixes are X,Y *and* Z. It may not be accurate enough for flight navigation, but it's...

Re: Auto elevation calibration

- Auto-calibration only takes place 1)At the start of the ride. 2)If WiFi is active. Might be one of the dumber things I've heard about the Karoo in recent weeks. Why would any *GPS* device need WiFi to determine its location and elevation? Colossally stupid... EDIT: Garmins from not that long ago ...
