Re: ATG Release 1.54.624.3

What I'm not getting: why the "attaching" of different sensors to bikes? Dashboards, yes, obviously you'd be interested in different things on say a MTB or a road bike. But if a sensor is not physically present, it's simply not connected, right? I don't have several bikes to try but at some point I...

Re: ATG Release 1.54.624.3

I'll agree with John here. You didn't really want the previous releases, so it was a good call on HH's part not to release generally. There were enough bugs and annoyances that it would have been further regression for most instead of improvement. The bike profiles, while OK, are really only a start...

Re: Garmin Vs Karoo update

...I think I'd like to give it a shot to give my Karoo a fair shake... Not picking on Brian, but this right here speaks volumes and echoes what I've been begging for for months. In order to make the Karoo usable, many feel that sideloading is REQUIRED. What do you think the current percentage of us...

Re: Garmin Vs Karoo update

I would have quite a bit of trouble recommending a Karoo to anyone right now as I don't think they're iterating fast enough to keep Garmin and others from marginalizing the few benefits a Karoo has right now... and they are very few indeed, basically the screen and the SIM functionality, which is on...

Re: ATG Release 1.46.620.3

Your maps won't work the same way since an update or two ago. You'll have to download full states (in the US) or regions in other countries.

Acknowledging sideloaded apps? Wow, that's a bit of a change.
And something they should have done MONTHS ago if they had no plans to move forward with some sort of curated "app store"...

Re: Karoo back on track ?

The issue is the pace of development and the continued, "we broke something but we're not sure how" problems that require hotfixes and panic. They still don't seem to understand their own software and how the pieces interact. See the recent "bug" where returning to the launcher page from a ride dele...

ATG Release 1.46.620.3

Introducing bike profiles. This is a frequently-requested feature from the Karoo user community and we're eager to get your feedback on its performance and any bugs you might encounter. We've also made it more convenient for users who sideload apps using ADB - sideloaded apps now appear on the Karoo...

Re: Karoo SIM trial offer

Sorry. Didn't mean to start anything, although if it gets people to try to win one...? :)

Just sent an email. I'm having a bit of trouble configuring the APN... or am dumb?

Re: Karoo SIM trial offer

No one said anything about prizes! :)

I got a very handy "credit card" sized multi-tool which immediately went into my wallet. Although a bit heavy, it's a super-useful thing that I've been meaning to buy one of anyway.

Re: ATG Release 1.44.608.3

Just posted this on the ATG forum as a quick debrief of my weekend event and the Karoo's good performance. ----- Not sure how anyone can keep track of this thread with so many responses, but I'll chime in here with some good news and not be 100% curmudgeonly on these forums. Used the Karoo for a 75+...

Re: Hmm.... Garmin 530

If Garmin would create a 530 with touchscreen for 350 dollars I am in It's called an 830, and it's only $50 more than that... or the same price you'd currently pay for a Karoo with probably less than half the "features". The gauntlet has been thrown by Garmin (if they even care). More likely, they'...

Re: hammerhead - Karoo-survey

From some chatter on Facebook, it also seems that they sent an "A" and "B" survey with different images? Or maybe I'm misreading what I thought I saw from Facebook (or people made up their own images). Frustrating that they're already potentially "moving on" hardware-wise while the software is still...

Re: Hmm.... Garmin 530

A 530 is $299, $100 less than a Karoo and is "missing" only the touchscreen (and some screen size). The list of "pluses" is almost too many to list, but high on the chart for me would be: - phone/notification connectivity - full base maps (no downloading piece by piece) - a beeper for turn-by-turn a...
