Re: Rerouting
As far as I've seen, that's actually the way it usually works when rerouting - it finds a pretty good approximation of the quickest way. Maybe it got confused on your map, idk. It looks like the Karoo's internal routing algorithm is mainly optimized to be quick to find a solution. If you compare it ...

Re: Third-party apps resolution problem.
I don't think there is. Problem is, at 480x640 the Karoo's resolution is lower than anything sold as a smartphone in at least the last five years, so mostmany developers don't even test their apps at such low resolutions or make any efforts to make them work on devices that they think can only be an...

Re: Issues since the server went down
I haven't had any issues lately, apart from the fact that the last software is shit again regarding battery use while the last two or three were great. Sensors are fine.

Re: ViewRanger map
Would be awesome if you could, but you can't. That's not how Android works in the first place - you can't simply embed one app's display in another one.

Re: K2 Down Payment Made
Just to note, the Karoo sells for more than $120 on Ebay. Might be a better idea than returning for a refund, although it is more of a hassle This. With the old model receiving most of the new features, I guess you could get closer to $200 if it's in good condition; and for anyone who sees cycling ...

Re: K2 Down Payment Made
I have a Karoo but the battery doesn't last but 2 - 3 hours max (without the screen on, using ANT vs BT, etc.) and i've calibrated the battery many times and have done everything customer support has suggested. The battery isn't replaceable so if you do buy one second had you might end up w a brick...

Re: K2 Down Payment Made
If I sell for $200, I have to give eBay $20. So I made all of $60 over trade-in to endure the hassle of eBay. No thanks. There are free alternatives to eBay and my hourly rate is not high enough to shun $60 tax free for half an hour's work. And if I sell it to someone, they'll just use it for a few...

Re: Cost to add SIM card
Internet is dirt cheap here in Sri Lanka, I literally pay 50¢ for over half a gigabyte on a prepaid card to use within three weeks. Nominally it's twice that, with the other half for nighttime use, plus 400-something MB if you use 4G

Re: Battery won't charge anymore
Hey hallo and greeting from the Netherlands at first! :) I'm having a battey issue with my Karoo. The device says that its charging, but the percentage isn't rising. In fact it keeps dropping when the device is turned on. The strange thing is that I turned on the device yesterday after it wasn't co...

"Go Home" workaround
I'm not sure why free on-device routing still isn't available because the rerouting engine is definitely fast enough to handle even bigger distances. I suppose some will have figured it out already, but in case someone needs it, here's an easy workaround for a "get me home" function: I created a tin...

Re: Request: "Upcoming Elevation Graph" for "off-route" course
Unlikely to happen. The Karoo would have to have no only map data, but also elevation data to pull this off. So full topographic maps. That and the processing power potentially needed to keep calculating that on the fly is probably a non-starter. A reminder that this is a user forum. If you have sp...

Re: Boot animation - any success?
:D Maybe it's just me but I still expect that peacocking arrow to finally penetrate the big Ohh every time I see it - in any case Mr. Freud would have had a field day with that animation. The previous one was way cooler. So yes, I feel you, but yes, it needs rooting, and as far as I know nobody has ...

Re: Suggestions for Bluetooth speakers/headphones
I used Anker SoundBuds before until they developed an issue and sound too effing awful even for TBT instructions. They're cheap, waterproof and have OK battery life; they're in-ear but if you use the smallest rubber bits ( and have bigger ear canals of course) they still stay in well and don't block...

Re: Uk Map update
I never use the satellite view on the HH dash so I didn't notice right away: there are simply no overlay ways on that view, but when you switch to Cycling View, the streets are pretty much all there so the routing should be fine. If there's a routing problem, it's not one of outdated maps. You could...

Re: Moving from Garmin to Karoo
Did you find Osmand to be reliable? You mean stability-wise or regarding maps? It's not flawless but pretty damn good. I've seen it crash maybe once every couple of months of daily use. Even though the integrated navigation has been making good progress recently (I just forgot my headphones today s...

Re: Sideloaded Apps Not Updating
Sounds like an APKpure problem. I just updated Osmand via F-Droid this morning, so I don't think HH changed anything about the OS that would block such updates. What with the launcher showing sideloaded apps for a few months now they seem to have turned rather more sideloader-friendly.
