That's this new "high intensity workout" trend, innit? Hope you have a bid of break pad left after that one!

Re: ATG Release 1.46.620.3

I'm unclear. With this latest release, do you still have to reload all of your sideloaded apps after installing a Karoo OS update, or is eliminating the need to reinstall sideloaded apps (rather than just displaying them on the home screen once reinstalled) what this update accomplishes (if it work...

Re: Screen off while navigating ? Auto back on ?

Can you give us your impression of how much "screen off" helps with battery life? I have no way of quantifying it (and I just moved internationally so my Karoo is still on a freighter somewhere near Thailand) but it seems to make quite a big difference, especially at daytime. At night you'll be run...

@Steve
... not to mention a charging connector in the foot. That's something I've thought about hacking into the Karoo for a while as it's the only way to get reliable dynamo charging.

Re: Karoo and OTG cable?

I could not get an OTG cable to work. It is probably for the better. Having a usb cord sticking out all the time is probably not a good idea. I found an old android phone and I am using that to connect to the receiver and wifi hot spotting it to work with the Karoo. This way I can load the data up ...

Re: Setting up OSMand for Cycling

Great guide to seeing up Osmand+.. it's a great navigation app, love it. Your guide just makes it that much easier to start using it as it can be overwhelming. Thanks :) Question.. Can you change the transparency of the planned route? Sometimes it's just that bit too strong to see through to the ro...

Re: ATG Release 1.42.600.3

I’m betting the size issue you note is because the files apparently come down as zipped compressed files and are expanded on the Karoo. I noticed after it finished downloading it said it was “unzipping” them. Yeah, that's it for sure. And I suppose the reason for the faster downloads is that they c...

Re: Downgrading to previous OTA?

The thread with the OTAs hasn't been updated recently because unfortunately no-one has passed on a captured OTA link. I've been moving internationally again so the Karoo is in the shipment together with my bike (cold turkey :( ). Around the end of the month I should ba able to grab an update again....

So I've set up a Donations link above (next to Quick Links, just below the board photo) where you can make a small donation if you'd like to help us out with this. You don't have to donate, it's totally optional, just that it would help us out. Thanks in advance! Has it disappeared meanwhile or am ...

Re: New release schedule?

I have the sensors for three bikes paired in my Karoo. Each has 2 and some 3 ANT+ sensors paired with the total being around 8-10 sensors depending on what I’m doing with power meters (BTLE or ANT+). struct ANTsensor sensors[8]; /* 640kb ... uh, 8 sensors should be enough for everybody --Bill Garff...

Re: HH Blog post and release news

One of the biggest problems is that we have no way to back out releases (unless you're lucky enough to have a rooted Karoo). So once you upgrade you're stuck if you don't like it, waiting for the vague next release in the hope that it'll be better. Yup. And the worst thing about that is that it's f...

Re: road.cc Karoo review

That is more than a stretch. Lost a lot of respect for road.cc. While Karoo is improving, it’s no where near the level of that claim. They're basically an advertising company, the "bike magazine" is for showing off what they do to prospective clients. I know one other product on their list, the Zec...

Re: ATG Release 1.21.495.3

This sounds good in writing. Trouble is though, I have very low confidence that they won't introduce some major bugs with this level of big change. True dat. When I read stuff like "Known Bug: The gray line indicating the path traveled does not stand out on the new map style" and try to imagine how...

Re: what apps did you sideload on the Karoo

Switchr for fast switching between HH's Ride app and OSM while on the bike. That's a brilliant app actually! At first I didn't get the point of it but now that I retried it it has made my life so much easier! Going back and forth between OSMand and the Ride app is really quick that way, plus I put ...

What exactly did you do? I just adb-pushed an exported GPX file from the Dashboard to

Code: Select all

/sdcard/Android/data/net.osmand.plus/files/tracks
and it worked fine. Maybe you copied it somewhere else and are having a permissions problem?

Speaking of which, the ATG releases don't permit downgrades by any chance?
Would be cool if any ATG member would let me borrow™ their device serial so I could monkey around with the images

Re: Auto elevation calibration

On my Garmin 520 I had many elevation problems. Especially when I made a cake stop for about 30 min. and all of a sudden, clouds or bad weather would start coming in and with it changes in air pressure. All of a sudden during my cake stop I sunk like 300 feet into the ground. That makes sense. I do...

Re: Root Karoo?

I've made quite some progress since I started hacking on the Karoo again yesterday. The way I see it, the most promising way is to trick the Karoo into downgrading its firmware to a version (1.5.75.3 or earlier) that still has the "OEM unlock" option to open the bootloader. By now I can impersonate ...

I just completed my first ride with that version yesterday. 6h with 3 ANT+ sensors, BT on all the time (I had a BT headset connected for navigation for about 2-3h) but WiFi off and cellular only for an hour. Finished with 34%. Hope it doesn't hit me later ...

Do you know if you can use the demo (http://demo.traccar.org/) as the server if you're just interested in tracking a single device? I'm haven't tried but the description for the Android client does read like it should be possible. Tracking a ride via OSMand worked well with my own server yesterday....
