Re: which features in New Software Release (Aug/Sept 2019)

Actually delivering on their most recent (now deleted from the website) roadmap would be nice. Or the original roadmap. I won't hold my breath though.

Re: Karoo for mountainbiking

Hammerhead will try and encourage you to stick to their official apps, so they're bound to remind you that using other apps is unsupported. But plenty of users have had success running third-party mapping/navigation apps on Karoo, such as Komoot. So I wouldn't take a lot of notice of what Hammerhead...

Re: Karoo for mountainbiking

There should be no reason why you can't run Oruxmaps directly on Karoo. Someone here might be willing to try that for you?

Average speed too low

On my last few rides, I've noticed that my Karoo registers my average speed as way too low. I'm not sure when this started - it might have been with the last software update, but it might well have been before that too. I don't recall any setting to change the way that it calculates this, but it's l...

Because they weren’t sure until they had field reports confirming it in quantity. That’s the problem with electronics and power measurements on chips. They’ve been bitten by over promising and under delivering. I’d give them credit for being cautious for a change. Doesn't make sense to announce it ...

Why shouldn’t they tout it?
I think that's Doug's point. Why didn't they put it in the changelog?

Re: Karoo Completely Dead After Reset

Oh dear, that doesn't sound good. I'm clutching at straws here, but have you tried just leaving it charging for a long time, like a few days, to see if that can bring it to life? I wonder if there's something wrong with the screen? It doesn't sound like a happy Karoo, and HH telling you that it's ou...

Re: Another "Kickstarter" computer...

Some interesting comments in there from DCR, agreed.

That "wireless charging only" thing screams "gimmick" to me. I'm sure they'll change their minds before final release (otherwise they're going to get slated).

Re: Continue Rcovered Ride

When I've had a ride recovered like that, I seem to remember that there's no way to continue it. Anyone know if they've changed that recently, or I'm remembering wrong? It is possible, however, to combine two parts of a ride into one by combining the Fit files from the Karoo, e.g. via something like...

Okay, I worked out that I needed to replace the "/%7B$z%7D/%7B$x%7D/%7B$y%7D" with "/{$z}/{$x}/{$y}" in the URL to make it work. Downloading now!
Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you meant that the URL in the earlier post wasn't working.

Re: Setting up OSMand for Cycling

If you're into scouting out new routes in unmapped territory, having satellite imagery available offline can be invaluable. You can use OSMand Map Creator (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OsmAndMapCreator) to get them onto your Karoo I have tried this, but the URL no longer works. Could you sha...

Re: Garmin Vs Karoo update

Your instructions are obviously geared to the Mac you own. Is there anything significantly different if using a PC? If so, is there someplace I can go to find PC specific instructions? There's almost nothing Mac-specific in there. The only thing is either adding the folder that adb is installed in ...

Re: Garmin Vs Karoo update

I really don't see how Garmin would find it "hard to respond" if Karoo can't even do the basics. It looks like bike profiles are coming shortly but that's been what? 18 months for an incredibly basic feature. At that rate of development it'll be years, if ever, that some of those other features are...
