Re: Karoo for mountainbiking

I'm not sure what all of the symbols and colors indicate, but it looks like you've previously had access to an extraordinary amount of map detail. At least out of the box, the Karoo maps, based on the OpenStreetMaps, have much less detail beyond the trails and roads themselves. But I believe that wo...

Re: ATG Release 1.46.620.3

I'm unclear. With this latest release, do you still have to reload all of your sideloaded apps after installing a Karoo OS update, or is eliminating the need to reinstall sideloaded apps (rather than just displaying them on the home screen once reinstalled) what this update accomplishes (if it work...

Re: what apps did you sideload on the Karoo

I prepared a long answer to your comment and hit the wrong key, causing the system to delete the whole thing. Let me just pass along what Locus' "Menion" told me to try, which didn't sound at all related to the issue, but worked: "You may give a try and tap on "tools" button in the panel with the se...

Re: what apps did you sideload on the Karoo

Is there anybody out there who's sideloaded Locus Map Pro? I thought I'd give it a try as it claims to allow connection of Ant+ and Bluetooth devices. The map is really good looking, and it's quite flexible for customizing data fields (although, as is often the case, I find the documentation scatter...

Accelerometer or compass sensor?
Sorry...I just corrected my post. I meant to say "magnetometer" as this is the culprit (NOT the accelerometer).

Re: Putting a waypoint on a dashboard bi-directional route

I received a reply from Ali at Hammerhead regarding my ticket/comment that it appeared the magnetometer was not being used currently: "...I checked this with the software team and this has been on a list of things of things we definitely want to get sorted out. Your findings are correct and it does ...

Re: Putting a waypoint on a dashboard bi-directional route

Well, I can confirm after today's ride -- the compass isn't working as expected if the hardware inside the Karoo is what Hammerhead claims. The current position arrow doesn't respond in the least when not moving. In contrast, my Garmin Etrex 35T, which also has a "magnetic compass," responded to eve...

Re: Putting a waypoint on a dashboard bi-directional route

... an other point - when I pause my ride the compass is at the moment useless. ... if I turn with my device I see no reaction of the direction arrow. ... I fear they don't use the integrated compass at the moment !? I've suspected the same thing. A fully-operational magnetic compass is very helpfu...

Re: 1.5.216.3 - no more Videos

I'm hanging in for the same reasons, JohnJ. I'm also hoping Hammerhead is arrogant enough to boost the price to $499 which it desperately wants. The risk for both of us is if the company runs out of cash first. I have the feeling that the Morgan family (Jon and Piet's parents) is/are providing cont...

Re: Dashboard update - 0.9.20

Why bother using Karoos nav when you can just run Komoot directly on the Karoo? Works better than Karoo’s nav ever will - at least in my lifetime. About the only major issue that I can think of as to "why bother" is that with the many Karoo issues that seem to crop-up requiring a "factory reset," y...

Re: Trying to figure out purpose of Karoo Facebook page

I have little to add except to again thank Steve and Doug for keeping this forum open to both negative and positive comments. The sanitizing that's being done on the Facebook sites isn't fooling us non-fanboys who own a Karoo and have tried to use it as promised in Hammerhead's advertisements. The p...

Re: Are these "known bugs?"

Good that you've found that it does work well. I've certainly had no problem operating my Karoo with touchscreen-friendly gloves. I can't remember what gloves I have exactly since we've been in a heatwave here in the UK for weeks and weeks, and it seems like forever that I needed anything more than...

Re: Are these "known bugs?"

Ok, I need to give credit where credit is due. Earlier in this thread I mentioned that I hadn't found a cycling GPS unit (including the Karoo) that responded well to full-fingered mountain bike gloves. I think that because of the relatively narrow area at the top of the Karoo screen where switching ...

Re: Are these "known bugs?"

This is from the "preview" page, but my data screen looks like this. IMG_20180723_144041.jpg As a follow-up: I was having difficulty signing-in to my Hammerhead account while using my Karoo, so I requested help from HH. I was told to do a factory reset, which did, indeed, wipe-out all of the side-l...

Yep, I hear you, that looks good. BTW, my preview screens show the clipping, too.

Re: Are these "known bugs?"

Ok, after a little testing, I can report that deleting, then adding back fields doesn't seem to change things. The "clipped" bottoms only apply to numeric fields; the graphical/chart fields look centered. The "clipped" data appears on all three of the screens that I've setup, including the two field...

Re: Are these "known bugs?"

I have the same number of fields on my main data page and don't get the text cut-off. I wonder if you re-arranged the fields if one is somehow throwing off the sizing/font? Or try removing one and just adding it back in? Thanks for the suggestion, Doug. I'll try doing that to see if it straightens ...

Re: Are these "known bugs?"

Well, strangely enough, other than the clipping off of the font mentioned above, the other oddities that I reported seemed to be OK today: "Current Grade" lagged behind the Garmin that was sharing the handlebars, but was at least responding; "Total Time" and "Ride Time" showed what they are supposed...
